Our History
Rock Castle was founded by Sis Inez Taylor in 1967. During a prayer meeting with her sisters, she heard the voice of the Lord say the name "Rock Castle." In a time before Google, she went to the county courthouse in search of a community by that name and discovered a small community called Rock Castle. The very first service was held by the light of car headlights while standing on the front steps of a modest one-room schoolhouse. God then provided the land and resources to build a church, where Rock Castle still stands today.
After the retirement of the founding pastor, Sis Clara Mae Jernigan and Sis. Francis Foster helped keep the church open for a short period of time. Then, in September 1993, Fabron Nicholson became the pastor, a position that he still holds.
Along with fresh worship and outreach programs, Pastor Nicholson has overseen the construction of a new worship sanctuary. This sanctuary has since been redecorated and expanded to make room for more growth. Recently, new state of the art technology has been installed to allow for production and broadcast of worship services on social media platforms.
Currently, we are excited to continue to grow and look for ways to continue to help our community.
